REFLECTION

Experience

Typography was a challenging but fun one nonetheless. I choose this design module as I think that it could help me out with my creativity in all kinds of daily activities. I was not ready for it at first as it was a very new environment for me in the first few weeks. It was relatively challenging in my opinion, for the first 2 tasks (task 1 & task 2). Maybe because I was not used to this environment even though I like this module. With the help of my peers, we managed to get along pretty well and had discussions from time to time when there is a new task. This made the experience for Typography a lot more fun and interesting and I was extremely motivated in completing tasks 3A and 3B. Overall, I had a fun experience throughout this semester for this module. Not to forget, Mr. Vinod and Mr. Charles made the class pretty interesting, hehe. It was a tiring roller coaster ride because of the heavy workload and adding to it with the high expectations from both our lecturers.

Observations

Throughout this module, I learned to observe closely all the details that could affect our designs specifically in typefaces, and graphical elements. This taught me how to observe the things around me whether they include design elements or not which I think is a good feature/skill to learn. This would also further allow me to write better in the future through different mediums as I am more aware of what kind of mistakes to avoid or elements to include to attract attention by creating a well-planned and designed artwork or even in just the simple daily routine, like writing.

Findings

With a lot of research and findings done throughout this semester, I get to understand more about the fundamentals of typography and understanding the need for certain elements when it comes to anything related to design. Upon understanding all the rules throughout all the lectures provided by Mr. Vinod and Mr. Charles, I slowly understood the importance of them although they may not look prominent or obvious previously. Now, I get to see a design with typography elements in it and I get to extract the good and bad aspects/principles contained in it. Not to forget, findings throughout this semester also include looking out for inspirations from my peers and their designs. This healthy relationship really builds a good platform for design explorations and findings together as we all share the same tasks, but with different outcomes based on our creativity.
